Most user manuals are heavy and huge and daunting, so it's very important that they be written to engage and motivate the reader. Most manuals don't even try, as they read like exhaustive dictionaries of tools and functions and keyboard shortcuts and the latter are a waste of the reader's time I learned Lightroom from Martin Evening's book many editions ago, because his book is different. He actually thought about how to organize the material in a way that makes sense.
Since then, I have bought updated editions for their excellent coverage of updated features. Even if I could have figured out a new feature on my own, the book will explain the proper way to use it for best effect. He made the transition a breeze.
As my knowledge and techniques advanced, Mr. This book is no different. As Adobe improves the product and adds features, Martin Evening provides a book that is understandable, fresh, and all around excellent. He also posts updated info in between his book. His photography is outstanding check out his website! I've been using Martin Evening's excellent books for both Lightroom and Photoshop since I began digital photography and editing.
Simply put, nothing else even comes close to his level of completeness, detail and accuracy. These are heavy tomes, to be sure, necessary to include all the information covered, including the ample examples necessary to illustrate techniques and results. Not for those in a hurry, at least as a learning tool, but still very worth having as a reference, especially when encountering a difficult challenge in editing a photo.
This is the 3rd book written by M. I've been using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom for umpteen years and have owned books by 3 other authors - none compare to Evenings. You can request that data be deleted. Presets are nice. The sliders don't move easily. SnapSeed allows masking for free, better UI, movable vignettes. Edit: Thanks for the reply, but I can't really do a screen recording because it will look completely normal.
But the sliders don't track well with my thumb. They lag behind or don't move at all. Hi, Sorry you're having trouble. Would you show us what you're seeing? Please post a screen recording of what's happening at adobe.
App constantly crashes. I have had pictures completely disappear. Now photos are constantly in a sync state. I try to share with clients and it freezes. When it does work it does not show all of the photos, if any at all. This is not the best photo editing nor is it the cheapest. I will not be renewing. This sounds like it would be worth talking to the product experts on our forum.
